A Program Preparing You for Employment
The Medical Assistant Certificate of Continuing Study (CCS) prepares students for a career as a medical assistant, with competency and confidence in:
- Anatomy and Physiology (basic)
- Clinical procedures and skills
- Communication Skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Electronic Health Records
- CPR certification and first aid
- Customer Service
- English as a Second Language (in medical context)
- Healthcare Law and Ethics; HIPAA Training
- Math (in medical context)
- Medical Terminology
- Pharmacology (basic)
Eligible graduates are able to sit for the National Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.
Bonus Services Provided
Beyond necessary Medical Assistant skills, we get you ready to apply for jobs:
- Individual counseling with a case manager
- Professional Development: resumes, cover letters, job searching and practice interviews
Program Schedule
This is a 20 week program: 15 weeks of classwork followed by a minimum 120 hour internship completed over 5-6 weeks.
- Classes: Daily, Monday–Friday, 9 am–3 pm
- Clinical Internship: 120 hours (after successfully completing all classes)
Eligibility & Cost
Are you motivated to learn new skills and secure employment? This program may be perfect for you, as long as you're 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and can provide a RI BCI Background Check. The program is free to those who are eligible, or $7,500 for those who do not meet eligibility requirements.
