It has been a humble experience to work with youth in residential group homes and uphold my position as a Family Support Specialist. After obtaining my clinical degree I aspire to be an asset in creating culturally appropriate trauma-informed care in residential group homes or agencies serving families. As a first-generation Mexican Guatemalan American, I have pondered what I can offer as a social worker in my future practice. I hope to encourage young minds to the possibilities of obtaining a successful life after pursuing an educational degree. I aspire to be a role model for future students who encounter challenges and sacrifice, an experience all students of the COE share to pursue their interests in higher education.
