Born to Caribeño immigrants, I am a first-generation student pursuing a master's in social work. I began serving Providence schools as a bus driver in 2017 and now have the privilege to work as a seasonal site director for Generation Teach, where I engage in anti-racist practice training focusing on restorative practices, teacher development, and community engagement. As a storyteller, I am passionate about utilizing the arts to raise awareness of social inequities; and through my role as an Oral Historian Fellow for Rhode Island Latino Arts, I am immersed in documenting and expanding the historical timeline of Rhode Island Latinx’s population. Looking ahead, I aspire to explore educational support approaches and interventions that can positively impact the academic performance and social integration of immigrant students.
