Suggested Paths to the Explore Process
Career Tasks
- Utilize the TypeFocus tool to assess your personality, values and interests. Make an appointment with a career counselor for in-depth analysis of your results.
- Explore the connection between your choice of major and choice of career
- Develop an individualized four-year career plan
- Create a Handshake account; feature skills and experience; explore listed opportunities
- Attend CDC workshops and presentations; be sure to capture skills on your resume and in your Handshake profile
Academic Tasks
- Meet with your advisor; explore various academic disciplines
- Discuss taking a variety of classes and review course of study with your advisor
- Talk with professors to learn more about your field of study
- Attend campus events/presentations to learn more about subject areas
Personal/Social Tasks
- Attend RIC's Student Activities Fair held at the beginning of each semester - Talk to at least 3 organizations
- Test your talents/interests by joining a club/organization
- Attend a sporting or social event; meet and make friends
- Learn more about working on campus
