A Conversation with Miss Major
A member of the original "Stonewall Rebellion," Miss Major joined Rhode Island College to talk their personal story, activism and rights for transgender individuals.
Gender fluid, non-binary, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, two spirit, third gender and questioning individuals are all welcome. We also provide a space for cisgender women who have experienced systemic gender-based oppression or have been denied access to structural rights.

Queerness is an umbrella term that is broadly used to refer to individuals and identities that are (currently) understood as culturally non-normative, especially of genders and sexualities such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, and others. RIC offers a minor in Queer Studies, an interdisciplinary field of inquiry that examines the histories, lives, identities, experiences and struggles of queer people. This minor compliments a variety of majors and disciplines. Learn more about the Queer Studies minor.
