Aging Studies CUS or Minor

Elderly hands

Rhode Island College’s Aging Studies program is the first of its kind in the state of Rhode Island. It is a multidisciplinary program that leads to a Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUS) in aging studies or a minor in aging studies.

Courses Spanning 4 of RIC's Schools

Courses are selected from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing, the School of Social Work and the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development. These courses provide a systematic grounding in the study of aging and enable you to successfully work in settings that provide services for, or advocate for, an aged population. Rhode Island College’s aging studies program is open to undergraduate, graduate and continuing education students and can be combined with any major.

Exploring Careers in Aging

Career opportunities are expanding in the field of aging. The American Psychological Association (APA) offers a step-by-step educational roadmap to help you find a career in aging that will best match your personal interests. Visit the APA’s Exploring Careers in Aging.

Minor in Aging Studies

Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections. Minor areas at RIC complement and reinforce all major areas of study. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job, internship and volunteer opportunities.
