Program Overview

Graduate students in the MA in biology program design and execute an original field or laboratory-based research project, conduct literature searches on timely biological topics, evaluate and synthesize primary source materials and develop the advanced scientific writing and oral communication skills necessary to interact effectively with fellow scientists in the professional arena. 

Admission and Course Information

Applications to the program are due March 1 for fall admission or November 1 for spring admission. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered if space is still available in the program.

Program Outcomes

Successful completion of this program prepares students for doctoral programs in biological/biomedical sciences; professional programs in human and veterinary medicine; or careers in biotechnology, industry, government or academia.
