Frequently Asked Questions
There are three plan periods over the course of the summer, consistent with the RIC Academic Calendar.
The Summer Meal Plan offers residents the opportunity to visit Donovan Dining Center and purchase up to 10 meals per week, each week, Monday–Friday.
There are 14 meal periods (opportunities) each week for one or more meals to be purchased – holiday weeks are exceptions. 1–3 meals can be purchased during any meal period, up to a total of 10 meals each week.
Unused meals do not carry over to the next week. At the beginning of each week, your meal balances are reset. We encourage summer residents to plan their schedule accordingly to maximize the use of their meal plan.
Flex Meal Points can be used in Donovan Dining Center during service hours and/or in vending machines on campus. Flex Meal Points are a convenient way to purchase additional food and beverages for a late-night snack or for Holidays and weekends when Donovan Dining Center is not open for service.
Flex Meal Points do not carry over at the end of the plan period and refunds are not available. This plan offers the opportunity for full meal plan utilization. We encourage summer residents to plan accordingly to maximize their meal plan value.
