Visual Arts
For over 50 years, the Art Department has maintained high standards in a competitive yet supportive community for student learning, with programs that prepare students for careers as artists, designers and educators.
Supportive Faculty Facilitating Experimentation
Our art professors are historians, art educators, artists and designers who have extensive professional experience in their respective areas of study. Faculty are committed to fostering critical engagement as students explore their creative potential for art making, visual problem solving, and research in the arts.
RIC's Art Department is a dynamic environment for learning.

Our Art Galleries
Our Bannister Gallery and Chazan Family Gallery, both on campus, feature the work of students and host exhibitions of contemporary art by local, regional and international artists. The Bannister Gallery (located in Roberts Hall) hosts approximately eight to ten rotating exhibitions each year and the Chazan Family Gallery (first floor of Alex and Ani Hall) features the work of students and recent graduates of local, regional and national programs in all mediums.
Art Department faculty members act as curators for the exhibition programs, with each educator introducing projects relating to their own area of interest and expertise.
