Project ExCEL is an academic initiative at RIC to expand college access for talented bilingual students. In close partnership with high school counselors, Project ExCEL enrolls bilingual students with established academic success, and provides them with the support needed to pursue and achieve a RIC degree.

How We'll Support You as a RIC Student
Our program assists multilingual students and language learners by providing academic and non-academic support and services.
Our Specialized ExCEL Academic Classes
Our program provides specialized classes that prepare students with the writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills needed to succeed in RIC courses and that provide continuous support and community throughout your time at college
Additional Academic Support Provided
- referrals to tutoring services and academic assistance provided by other RIC offices
- arranging peer study groups
- assisting with academic networking between students
Non-Academic Support Provided
We also support our students by connecting them with:
- ExCEL Student Mentors
- RIC offices, resources, and services (Financial Aid Office, Bursar’s Office, Advising, Counseling Services, Learning for Life), by providing a referral
- housing and food assistance (resources on and off campus)
- other multilingual students at RIC for community building and social networking
