Languages That You Can Study

The Department of Modern Languages offers a BA degree in modern languages, with concentrations in French, Francophone studies, Latin American studies (with a track in Spanish-speaking Latin America and Brazil), Portuguese and Spanish. You can also sign up for the following minors: French, Francophone studies, Italian, Latin American studies, Portuguese and Spanish. We also offer courses in a variety of languages: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.​

Interested in Teaching World Languages?

If you are interested in teaching languages, RIC has a World Languages Education BA offered by the Department of Educational Studies. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible for full certification to teach world languages in French, Portuguese and/or Spanish in all grades (Pre-K-12) in Rhode Island.
