Graduate Assistant Graduate Nursing in Tutorial Services

Full-Time (20 hours per week)

Primary Purpose

A graduate assistant (GA) for Graduate Nursing in Tutorial Services is someone who wishes to be personally invested in student academic success. The GA tutor provides tutorial support to Rhode Island College students in core graduate courses. Assistance to graduate students in their core courses increases success and retention. They will support the Academic Success Center in creating, promoting and delivering workshops on study skills and strategies. They will attend recruitment and admissions events with the Graduate Nursing program faculty to promote the services of the Academic Success Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the learning atmosphere by facilitating individual and group study and by reinforcing the concept of success within tutorial relationships where critical thinking can be nurtured. 
  • Meet with other graduate students and colleagues to discuss best tutoring practices will help to build a network of teaching strategies. 
  • Possess knowledge of a variety of learning approaches that enriches not only the tutee but gives the tutor/GA an environment for forming a growth mindset.
