International Student Admission

Students talking happily around a table

Rhode Island College welcomes international students, who add to the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of our campus community.

International Admissions Process

We look forward to sharing our international admissions process with students who wish to study or who are currently studying in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa. This does not include permanent residents (who can supply a copy of both sides of their resident alien card) or refugees. International applicants who are transferring from another U.S. college or university must notify the registrar of the "sending" institution of their plans to transfer to Rhode Island College.

Student Visas

If you are accepted to Rhode Island College and require an F-1 Visa, financial documentation totaling the cost of attendance is required prior to receiving your I-20 Form.

Currently Rhode Island College does not accept J-1 Visas. Students would need to obtain an F-1 along with their J-1.

Students can not enter the US on a B1/B2 Visa and expect to change it to an F-1 when they are in the US.

Important Deadlines

  • Early Action: December 15
  • Spring Admission (January): December 15
  • Regular Decision: March 15

Tuition and Fees

International students pay the out of state tuition rate. Undergraduate Tuition and Fees provides this cost and additional details. In addition, students should be familiar with the housing costs if they decide to live in one of the residence halls on the Rhode Island College campus.

International students are not eligible to receive federal student aid or Rhode Island College merit scholarships.
