Anthropology BA
Anthropology is the scientific study of humanity.
This field provides a broad base of knowledge about how society works.
Anthropology examines not our bodies (biology) or minds (psychology) but our behaviors, social structures, cultures, linguistics and much more. By providing a foundational understanding of how societies function, anthropology could be considered the mother of all people skills.

Why Anthropology? | Why Our Program?
- We prepare students for careers in many areas of the social and behavioral sciences, education, government service, technical fields and business, particularly in an international setting.
- Emphasis is on experiential learning through internships, field experiences and study abroad.
- We offer six minor options (anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology and medical anthropology), which allow students majoring in other fields to complement their studies with a foundation in the humanities.
- Topics covered in the Bachelor of Arts in anthropology curriculum include: archaeology, linguistics, cultural anthropology, paleontology, public history and ethnobotany.
With small class sizes, RIC faculty truly know their students and provide personalized instruction.

Ensuring That You'll Be Ready
Peter Little
“Anthropology prepares students for a culturally diverse world by developing a deeper understanding of the variety of past and present human groups, the cultures and societies people create and sustain, the processes that animate cultural production and social life, and the social and environmental conditions that shape human biological development and change.”
Anthropological Experience Abroad
Immersive Experiences in Education: Aidan Mooney rounded out their history major by joining an archaeological dig.
