Early Spring for Visiting Students - Currently Archived

As a visiting student, you may register for Early Spring courses beginning on:

• Monday, November 27

The registration system is available from 7 am–11 pm daily.

Course Cancelation and Add/Drop Deadlines

Should RIC need to cancel a course that is scheduled to be offered, we will do so by December 12. If you need to add or drop a course, that must be done no later than the day after the first day of that class.

Finding the Courses You'll Register for on MyRIC

While the schedule of classes gives you a sense of what is being offered and when, our MyRIC portal will provide you with course descriptions to help you decide what to register for. As someone who has never attended Rhode Island College before, you will need to create an account to obtain a user ID and password in order to register for classes. However, you can view our Early Spring course descriptions without an account right now. (Just ensure that the "Term" drop-down menu has "Spring 2024" selected.)

Please Note: When you select "Spring 2024" and run a search you will be shown courses for both Early Spring and Spring semesters. Please know that only courses with "12/26/2023 - 01/13/2024" in the Meeting Dates column are Early Spring courses. And please be sure to avoid course meeting times that conflict with each other.

Call/Class Numbers

Call/class numbers are the five-digit number preceding each course and are very important for these reasons:

• this is the number you will need in order to register for, add, or drop a given course
• clicking on a call number will provide you with the course description

Also, if a course has multiple sections, please note the unique section number. You may not register for more than one section of a course.

Departmental Consent

Some courses require departmental consent to enroll. These courses are identified in Class Search on the Class Details page with the phrase "Department Consent Required." A course may have this designation for reasons such as: minimum grade point average, earned credits, major, or permission of department chair. Contact the offering department for registration information.

College Catalog 

The college catalog contains degree requirements for all undergraduate programs of study, rules that affect students, descriptions of courses, and a list of the faculty and administration of the college. You must know the rules given in the catalog for your degree program. The catalog is the document of authority for all students. 

Registering for Early Spring Classes on MyRIC

1. You will be registering for Early Spring classes on our MyRIC portal. As someone who has never attended Rhode Island College before, you will need to create an account to obtain a user ID and password in order to register for classes. When creating the account, you will be asked to provide a social security number (SSN). Please contact the Records Office if this prevents you from completing the form.

   Create your MyRIC Account 

   Once you create an account you will receive confirmation and instructions about your MyRIC user ID and password.

   Please note: If an existing account is found for you, you will be directed to request reactivation of your account through the Records Office at 401-456-8213 or records@ric.edu.

2. Go to MyRIC and access your account by entering your user ID and password (all lowercase) that you received via email. Students who require assistance with accessing online registration should contact the Disability Services Center at 401-456-2776. If you forgot your ID or password or have trouble accessing your account, contact the Records Office at 401-456-8213.
3. To begin the registration process navigate from the RIC Announcements page to the RIC Student Homepage (using the top, left drop-down menu). Then click on Student Center > select Enroll from the left-hand navigation.
4. Please be certain that, for any course you're looking to enroll in, the Meeting Dates column reads "12/26/2023 - 01/13/2024," indicating an Early Spring course. And please be sure to avoid course meeting times that conflict with each other.

We recommend that visiting students consult an academic advisor at the College they are currently attending for guidance on course limits and course transfer.
