Council of Rhode Island College
The Council of Rhode Island College, established in 1963, consists of the President of the College, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, one faculty member from each department, or School if there are no separate departments within it, plus six at-large faculty members; two members of the professional staff of the College; two students for a one-year term to be selected in a manner determined by the Student parliament.
The Council is the chief legislative and regulatory agency of the Faculty. Its function is to examine and evaluate current policies in light of the philosophy, purposes, and assigned function of the College and to recommend such amendments and additions of policy that are deemed necessary or desirable to provide for the most effective operation of the College. Recommendations of the Council that alter College policy must have the approval of the President.
