New Summer CS4RI Course Offering for Rhode Island Teachers
Workshop: Introduction to Computer Programming and Web Design for Teachers
Rhode Island College will become part of the Computer Science for All Rhode Island (CS4RI) initiative in the summer of 2016 with a 4-day computer science workshop for middle and high school teachers in June.
RIC is partnering with General Assembly (GA), a global educational company that focuses on the most relevant and in-demand skills across data, design, business and technology. This workshop will give teachers an opportunity to deepen their content knowledge in computer science and web design as well as empower them to replicate particular workshops and best practices for teaching coding to students.
CS4RI (www.cs4ri.org) was established by Governor Raimondo with the goal to have computer science taught in every public school by December 2017. This will enable the building of new skills that can create opportunities and make RI more competitive.
The 30-hour workshop will run 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday, 6/27 to Thursday, 6/30 on the Rhode Island College campus. All course materials will be provided; however teachers will need to bring their own laptops. The course fee is $500 and billing and payment will be through the Bursar’s Office. Please visit www.ric.edu/RIC-CS4RI for additional information and registration instructions.
The registration deadline is June 22.
