Tablets and netbooks

While tablets such as Apple's iPad or Motorola's Xoom are lightweight and handy for taking notes in class, running phone apps, and reading e-books, the current models do not have the power and flexibility to replace a laptop computer. Netbooks are scaled-down laptops and will meet the computing requirements of some students. However, most student computer needs are better served by purchasing a computer with the specifications listed above.

Decisions between a desktop or a laptop system is personal preference; either type will work on the campus network, provided it meets or exceeds the above-mentioned requirements.

If you have questions regarding computer compatibility with the campus network contact campuscard@ric.edu or call 401-456-8394.
