Melissa Alexander has served as the Manager of Advocacy Services at the
Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center in Warwick, RI, since January 2004. In this
capacity, she oversees court and law enforcement advocacy services for victims
of domestic violence; to include safety planning, assistance in obtaining
restraining orders, advocacy in court for victims in criminal cases and
referrals as appropriate. Melissa is also responsible for developing and
facilitating professional and community trainings on domestic violence and
related issues. She is a member of the statewide VAWA Curriculum Committee for
Law Enforcement Training, which develops and implements training for law
enforcement around the state. Prior to working at the EBC Center, Melissa was
the Coordinator of Adult Advocacy at the Sexual Assault and Trauma Resource
Center of RI. Melissa obtained a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from
Northeastern University in 1999. |
