Andrew Girard, an alumnus of the justice studies program who completed an honors project on discretion in police traffic stops in his senior year, has been sworn in as a probationary officer in the Woonsocket Police Department. Here, he is pictured with Jim Clift, a Providence Police Detective who teaches as an adjunct in the justice studies program. Jim is a Rhode Island College alumnus, double majoring in 1992 in Sociology & Justice Studies, and is and the recipient of a RIC Alumni Honor Roll award in Justice Studies in 2006.
