Sylvanus Martin was the husband of Amey (Brown) Martin, served as a sergeant in the 4th Connecticut Regiment of Israel “Old Put” Putnam in the siege of Boston from May to December 1775. He participated in the Battle of Bunker Hill in June 1775 and left a brief Journal entry of the experience. He and Amey moved to Providence from East Windsor Connecticut in 1778 with his family including daughter Abby B. Martin who later was the spouse of Joseph S. Martin and the mother of Albert Martin.
