RIC sorority raises over $4,500 for A Wish Come True

The RIC sorority Sigma Iota Theta recently donated $4,576 to A Wish Come True, an organization that grants wishes to children ages three through 18 who have a life-threatening illness and live in Rhode Island and areas of southeastern Massachusetts.

The sorority held fundraisers, including “Date-A-Theta” which offered bids on a date at the organization’s toga party held at a local restaurant. Members also created 200 wristbands that were sold for two dollars each, and were tasked with raising $100 on their own time. One member, Julie Alfano, raised a total of $873.

Other organizations at RIC were challenged to raise money for the cause, with Future Elementary and Early Childhood Teachers (F.E.E.T) raising $124.

Sigma Iota Theta at RIC was founded in 2006 on the principles of academic achievement, sisterhood and philanthropy.
