RIC student leaders host 24-hour radiothon for Haiti Feb. 17, 18

Rhode Island College’s student radio station, WXIN-FM (90.7) will host a 24-hour radiothon to benefit Haitian earthquake relief from 9 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 18.

The event will be broadcast live on 90.7 FM and online on http://ricradio.org/wxin, with a simulcast on Anchor TV, RIC’s student television station.

“Rhode Island College radio has seen how the catastrophe in Haiti has directly impacted our fellow students who have relatives there, and we felt compelled to respond,” said Nick Lima, general manager of WXIN.

Members of RIC’s Student Community Government and several student clubs have volunteered to help at the event.

All proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.

Students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni, along with other special guests, will be featured on the air throughout the radiothon.
