Fiddlers Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy perform March 4

The RIC Performing Arts Series will present legendary fiddle virtuosos Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy in Masters of the Fiddle on Thursday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Roberts Hall Auditorium.

For more than 20 years, MacMaster has been dazzling audiences with electrifying performances that amplify the traditional Celtic sound for contemporary times and feature her trademark step dancing.

Collaborating and performing with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Faith Hill and Carlos Santana, MacMaster has released 10 albums and tours extensively, performing as many as 250 shows a year.

She has also won a multitude of awards and accolades including a Juno award and a Grammy nomination for her album "My Roots Are Showing."

Fiddle phenomenon Donnell Leahy is described by Anne Herman of the Anchorage Daily News as “a man possessed” when he picks up a fiddle. As a member of the band Leahy, Donnell and his siblings have won many honors in the Canadian music world.

Leahy married MacMaster in 2002 and together this Canadian couple is “a whirlwind matrimony of fiddle-driven music, dance, and song,” according to
