Korean student artwork on display at Bannister Jan. 14 to Feb. 11

Student work from the Visual Communications Dept. at Konkuk University.
The Bannister Gallery exhibition “Graphics in Korea” will offer an excellent opportunity to see unique student work from Korea, where traditional Korean culture melds with Western communication media.

The show, which runs from Jan. 14 through Feb. 11, will present portfolios from the graduating class of the Visual Communications Department at Konkuk University in Choongju, Korea.

At a Bannister reception on Thursday, Jan. 28, professors from Konkuk University will be on hand to explain their curriculum and answer questions. RIC professor Heemong Kim, curator of the show, will also attend. The reception is from 5-8 p.m.

Each work on display was juried in June 2009 as part of the graduation approval process and was exhibited at the University Gallery last fall. Forms of communication graphics include posters, package designs, book designs, advertisements and website designs, among others.

Gallery hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Exhibits and events are free and open to the public. Accessible to persons with disabilities. For information on event dates and exhibit opening receptions, check the website at www.ric.edu/Bannister or call (401) 456-9765.
