Circo Aereo, in first American tour, performs at RIC Nov. 5

Circo Aereo, the intellectual circus that mixes traditional circus arts and aerial work with innovative theatre, movement and humor, arrives at Rhode Island College on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The Performing Arts Series presentation will be held in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Recognized throughout Europe as a pioneer of the new circus genre, Circo Aereo has embarked on its first American tour this year. This imaginative international company from Finland has performed in over 20 different countries since 1996 at many distinguished festivals and theatres.

Circo Aereo’s latest and most famous work, “Espresso,” has enthralled audiences at the Parc de la Villette in Paris, Theatre du Vidy in Switzerland, and the Damascus Opera in Syria among many others.

The Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat described Circo Aereo as “a treasure chest filled with beautiful sights, meticulous efforts and inventive surprises.

”Circo Aereo describes itself as a circus with “the courage to experiment and the skill to evoke feelings.”

Tickets for Circo Aereo are $35, with discounts for seniors, RIC faculty/staff/students/alumni, and children.
