Accounting major Kevin San ’12, MPAc ’13, assistant controller of the Rhode Island State Lottery, was the keynote speaker at the 2013 Internship Showcase at RIC. San offered insights about what students can expect to gain from an internship, the qualities sought in an intern and how interns can maximize the benefits of the experience.
Other young RIC alumni also spoke at the Internship Showcase and responded to the queries of currents.
“If I could give RIC students seeking an internship just one piece of advice, it would be to network at as many events as possible with as many people as possible,” said Nicole Wilson ’13, an English and communications major who is now a writing intern for GTech.
“And treat your internship like it’s your career. It very well could be,” said Lauren Malloy, an operations management major who is now assistant manager at CVS.
The Internship Showcase was sponsored by Rhode Island College’s Office of Career Development.
