Faculty art exhibit set for Sept. 6-26 at Bannister Gallery

The Annual Faculty Exhibition is an opportunity for the college and the community to experience firsthand the inspiring artistic talent that is in residence at Rhode Island College. The exhibition will take place from Sept. 6-26, with an opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5-8 p.m.

Bringing a unique vision to the region’s cultural tapestry, RIC faculty members exhibit widely and are recipients of many prestigious awards, grants and residencies. They are very much a part of the current aesthetic and formal dialogue in their various approaches to art making, including research-based and interdisciplinary methods that are at the core of best practice models.

Featured in this exhibition is Juan Jose Barbosa-Gubo, a new RIC professor in the Art Department’s Foundations area.

The exhibition is curated by James Montford, director of Bannister Gallery.

Since 1978, Bannister Gallery at Rhode Island College has presented works of art in all forms of traditional media as well as more contemporary site specific, electronic and video projects.

Gallery hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Exhibits and events are free and open to the public. Accessible to persons with disabilities. For information on event dates and exhibit opening receptions, check the website at www.ric.edu/Bannister or call (401) 456-9765.
