Lecture on Hester Stanhope’s 1815 archeological expedition, March 28

RIC grad Kevin DeJesus ’00, PhD, of York University, will lecture on the topic “Mapping Hester Stanhope’s Middle East: The Eastern Mediterranean in Noble View” on Wednesday, March 28, from 12:30-2 p.m. in Gaige Hall 254.

Lady Hester Lucy Stanhope (1776-1839) was an English socialite and explorer whose archaeological expedition to Ashkelon in 1815 is considered to be the first modern excavation in the Holy Land.
