Adele Myers and Dancers will collaborate with 10 members of the RIC Dance Company in a performance of “Theater in the Head,” on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nazarian Center’s Sapinsley Hall.

The RIC Dance Company will also present “This Dance is What You See,” a work resulting from Myers’ weeklong residency at RIC in August.

“Theater in the Head” is described on Myers’ website as “a quest for intimacy between performers and their audience. It offers spectacle then reveals its mechanics by stripping them away.”

Developed with composer Josh Quillen of So Percussion, “Theater in the Head” is a 40-minute sextet in two acts that features Myers’ athleticism mixed with theatricality and humor.

In addition to her role as artistic director of her dance company, Myers is a visiting assistant professor of dance at Connecticut College. Her choreography has been presented at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out, Bates Dance Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, DanceNowNYC and many more. She has performed as a member of Joy Kellman/Co. in New York City for six years, and as a guest artist with Momix, among others.

Myers’ commercial credits include choreographing a record release event for Aerosmith and industrials for TV Guide.

The concert is funded in part by the New England Foundation for the Arts.

General admission is $15, with discounts for groups, senior citizens and students. For more information, call (401) 456-9791.
