Renee Vachon Danho joins RIC to lead continuing studies

Renee Vachon Danho of Attleboro, Mass., has been named associate vice president for professional studies and continuing education at Rhode Island College, announced RIC President Nancy Carriuolo.

Vachon Danho comes to RIC from Dean College where she served as assistant vice president of institutional advancement and dean of professional and continuing studies. Before that, her work in higher education included the position of campus director at Fisher College in Massachusetts and other administrative positions in public and private colleges. In addition, she has taught at all levels of education from elementary to graduate level.

At RIC, she will oversee the college’s offices of continuing studies and summer sessions, outreach programs, the news bureau, and the Chief Executives Club of Rhode Island at RIC.

Vachon Danho holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Boston College, as well as a master’s of teaching in elementary education from RIC.

“RIC is committed to assisting with the workforce education and training so vital to our state's economic development,” said Carriuolo. “Renee’s experience, energy, and attitude will be vital to RIC's efforts to provide continuing education and professional studies to the non-traditional student, especially the adult learner.”

She also has numerous, widespread professional affiliations that include the New England Council, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Planned Giving Group of New England, Associations for Supervision and Curriculum Development and Continuing Higher Education, and the Women’s Success Network.

Before entering the academic arena, Vachon Danho was a prominent and well-respected member of the business community, holding key positions in the automotive and insurance industries, and memberships within several Chambers of Commerce.
