Four Wednesday Chamber Music Series recitals on fall program
The Wednesday Chamber Music Series at RIC will present four "Cutting Edge Concerts" this fall – Oct. 26, Nov. 9 and two shows Dec. 7.
These 50-minute recitals will be held Wednesdays at 1 p.m. in Sapinsley Hall, with a special second Wednesday performance set for 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 7. An informative question-and-answer session with the artists follows each performance.
• On Oct. 26, Michael DeQuattro, RISCA Fellowship composer and noted percussionist, will perform in the recital "Eclectic Creativity." DeQuattro is an adjunct instructor of percussion at RIC and a busy freelance performer in the Providence and Boston areas.
He has performed with notables such as the Moody Blues, Maria Spacagna and Nanae Mimura. He has also worked as an accompanist and composer for many modern dancers and dance companies.
• The Rhode Island College Music Faculty Concert will be performed on Nov.9.
• Curt Columbus, artistic director of Trinity Repertory Company, and I will collaborate on two Dec. 7 innovative workshop/performances, "Musicals in the Making" – at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. These events will feature material from new musical theatre, with Columbus moderating a panel discussion about the creative process.
Columbus joined Trinity Rep as artistic director in January 2006. His directing credits for Trinity include “Camelot,” “Cabaret,” “The Odd Couple,” “The Secret Rapture,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Cherry Orchard” and the world premiere of Stephen Thorne's “...Poe.” His plays “Paris by Night,” “The Dreams of Antigone” and “Sparrow Grass” premiered at Trinity.
