RIC's Jamie Taylor wins Director of the Year award

Jamie Taylor, RIC professor or theatre and chair of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance, was awarded College & University Director of the Year by Motif Magazine, a Rhode Island arts and cultural publication.

Taylor earned the award for his work on “Oleanna,” a RIC Theatre production that ran from Feb. 16-20, 2011.

RIC theatre student Kristina Drager was awarded Best Female Performance for her work in college’s production of “Hay Fever,” staged Nov. 17-21, 2010.

Last year, the RIC production of “Rabbit Hole” received a Best Production award and Taylor was named Best Director.

Nominations for this year’s Motif Theatre Awards were compiled by area theatre critics based on performances spanning from summer 2010 through May 2011. The list of nominees is culled down to a final ballot and voted on by the general public.
