Fifth annual Ocean State Film Festival, April 14

RIC’S Ocean State Film Society – a student organization for film lovers – is hosting the fifth annual Ocean State Film Festival on Thursday, April 14, at 8 p.m. in the Nazarian Center’s Forman Theater.

The event is packed with short films created by film majors and film enthusiasts around the campus. It is a way for RIC students to showcase their talents and enjoy an evening of diverse cinematography.

During the evening, the audience will have the opportunity to rate the films. Also, a panel of alumni judges will review the submissions based on cinematography, editing, style, creativity and mise-en-scene, or what we see in the scene.

A People’s Choice award will be given to the film with the highest audience score; a Judge’s Choice will also be awarded.

The film festival began in 2007 by then-students Rich Campopiano, Mark Espinola and Anthony Giambusso. The Ocean State Film Society organization came about three years later, and has been growing ever since, along with the festival.

The event is free and open to the public. Snacks and beverages will be provided. For more information, contact
