Gerontology conference on nutrition, fitness and falls, April 27
The gerontology conference “Food, Fitness, and Falls Among Older Adults” will be held on Wednesday, April 27, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Faculty Center’s Main Dining Room.
Conference participants will become aware of the special nutritional needs of seniors, explore fitness issues for this population and learn about the incidence, costs, at-risk population and medical issues associated with falling.
Other topics include fall-proofing a home, exercises to improve leg strength, identifying resources and referral points for at-risk elders, and understanding the holistic theoretical approach to wellness and aging gracefully.
The conference is free and open to the public due to the generosity of the RIC Lectures Committee and AGES (Aging and Gerontology Education Society). Three contact hours (0.3 continuing education units) are available for a fee.
