Tango Buenos Aires
Tango Buenos Aires – one of Argentina’s great cultural exports – brings its fiery passion to Rhode Island College in a Performing Arts Series presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall.

The concert program features an exciting mix of full-company dances and duets, including performances of “Recuerdo,” “Zum,” “La Cumparsita” and “Tanguera,” among many others.

Since the 1980s, Tango Buenos Aires has traveled the world, captivating countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin and North America as the most authentic and uncompromising representative of the Tango.

The company has performed in the International Tango Festival in Spain, hosted a series of unprecedented master classes and residencies at the Dance University of Beijing, and, under the patronage of the president of Argentina, introduced the tango to Indonesia for the first time ever.

Tango Buenos Aires’ performance at RIC is part of its coast-to-coast tour of the U.S. and Canada this winter.

The Ruidoso News wrote of Tango Buenos Aires: “Sometimes playful, sometimes dramatic, and always sensuous, the closely entwined bodies and limbs moved with amazing speed through deftly engineered movements, including frequent dips, deep slides, energetic foot stomps and ballet-like turns.”

Tickets for the Tango Buenos Aires are $35. Discounts are available for seniors, children and RIC faculty/staff/students/alumni. Purchase tickets in advance with Visa, MasterCard or Discover by calling (401) 456-8144 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays; online at www.ric.edu/pfa; or in person at the Nazarian Center Box Office in Roberts Hall.
