Bannister showcases ‘Graphics In Korea’ Jan. 18-28

Previously displayed artwork from students at Konkuk
University in Korea.
From Jan. 18-28, Bannister Gallery will present Graphics In Korea: Another Look, an exhibition featuring artwork from the graduating class portfolios of students from the Visual Communications Department at Konkuk University in Choongju, Korea.

The reception will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 5-8 p.m.

The exhibition offers an opportunity to see unique student work from Korea, where traditional Korean culture melds with Western communication media.

The different forms of communication graphics presented include posters, package designs, book designs, advertisements and website designs, among others. Each work displayed was juried in June 2010 as part of the graduation approval process, and was exhibited at the University Gallery last fall.

Professors from Konkuk University will attend the reception to explain their curriculum and answer questions.

RIC art professor Heemong Kim is curator of the show.

Gallery hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Exhibits and events are free and open to the public. Accessible to persons with disabilities. For information on event dates and exhibit opening receptions, check the website at or call (401) 456-9765.
