RIC's Stephanie Coro named Little East Player of the Week in women's basketball
RIC junior guard Stephanie Coro of North Providence was named Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in two games last week.
Coro continued her torrid shooting pace in a 1-1 week for the Anchorwomen.
She shot 52 percent from the field (17-for-33), 40 percent (4-for-10) from downtown and did not miss (4-for-4) from the free throw line. Coro scored a team-high 21 points in a loss to Bridgewater State on Nov. 23 and reached the same point total in the win at WPI on Nov. 28. She also chipped in with four steals against the Bears, while handing out three assists against the Engineers.
Coro has played in five games, starting all of them. She is averaging 22.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 3.2 steals per game. Coro is shooting 51 percent (40-for-78) from the field and 42 percent (11-for-26) from downtown.
Head coach Marcus Reilly’s team is 4-1. The Anchorwomen will play at Johnson & Wales University on Nov. 30, at Connecticut College on Dec. 2, and host Eastern Connecticut State University in the Little East Conference opener on Dec. 4.
