Wednesday Chamber Music Series fall season announced

Concerts are scheduled for Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. (On Dec. 8, two performances will be held – at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.)

Judith Lynn Stillman, artistic director of the Wednesday Chamber Music Series at RIC, has announced the schedule for the fall presentation of "Celebrity Series: All Strings Bright and Beautiful."

Recitals will be held in the Nazarian Center’s Sapinsley Hall. A question-and-answer session with the artists follows each performance.


Shanghai Quartet, Judith Lynn Stillman
• On Oct. 13 at 1 p.m., cellist Edward Arron and pianist Stillman will perform as Juilliard Duo (both are graduates of The Juilliard School). They will present a recital of sonatas for cello and piano by Bach, Beethoven and Debussy. Arron, a creative and passionate performer, is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician who performs throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

• Newport Harp, featuring delightful selections performed by harpist Hyunjung Choi, will enchant concertgoers on Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. Choi is principal harpist with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and is a guest performer at many festivals and concerts.

• Stillman will collaborate with the internationally celebrated Shanghai Quartet, an ensemble known for its elegant musicality and masterful technique, in two exciting concerts on Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Washington Post has described the quartet’s sound as “a musical conversation of stunning authenticity and presence.”
