RIC names William Gearhart VP for administration, finance
William Gearhart has been appointed vice president for administration and finance, announced RIC President Nancy Carriuolo.
“Bill has broad and significant experience that he will bring to serving the needs of our campus,” Carriuolo said.
Gearhart served most recently as senior vice president for finance and administration and treasurer at Hood College in Frederick, Md., where he was instrumental in developing recruitment and retention strategies that contributed to record enrollment.
He also implemented plans to eliminate chronic budget deficits while acting as a senior advisor to Hood’s president.
Gearhart has held similar positions at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C., and Dean College in Franklin, Mass. He was also an administrator in the Mansfield (Mass.) public school system.
Gearhart holds a master’s degree in business administration from Suffolk University in Boston and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.
“I am delighted to become a member of the Rhode Island College administration as I value RIC’s history and mission,” Gearhart said. “I look forward to contributing to the college’s continuing success.”
