Craft/RiscadoIn this Brazilian feature, Bianca, a talented underemployed actress in Rio de Janeiro is afraid of missing her "big break." She perseveres with single-minded dedication to her craft until an audition leads to a rare opportunity. Set against rich visuals, Karine Teles's remarkable performance drives this drama of everyday tragedy in the working world of an artist. (Portuguese and French with English subtitles)

9:00 to 10:30 a.m. – Judging at 11:00 a.m.The students at the Henry Barnard School are very excited about decorating their classrooms according to the of Homecoming 2012 – "Heating Things Up". Winners of the contest will be named during school announcements.
Decorating Complete by 6:00 p.m. – Judging 8:00 p.m. – Residence HallsThe Office of Residential Life invites you to show off your creativity and your RIC spirit! Each Residence Hall will decorate a large "spirit board" in the Homecoming theme "Heating Things Up". Winners will be announced at the Friday Night Homecoming Festival.

This exhibit reflects the artist's increasing anxiety over the state of American culture and her ambivalence toward technology. Using two primary sources of imagery: maps and Chinese paper cuts, the art brings East and West together by blending imagery from both cultures and "mapping" out a new terrain. de Simone is visually impaired and a faculty member in the art department of Michigan State University.Monique Roelle Johnson

Woman is a collection of works by Monique Rolle Johnson that focuses on the commonality of women, their strengths, endurances, burdens, and triumphs. Johnson's work is best defined by its brilliant colors that saturate her surfaces. The rhythmic patterns she employs are suggestive of her Caribbean roots. Johnson has received degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and the College of the Bahamas. Her works are in numerous public and private collections.

6:00 to 9:00 p.m. – Student Union Ballroom"This documentary focuses on the unique challenges that undocumented youth graduating from high school every year in the U.S. face as they turn 18. Many of these youths are at risk of exile from the only country many of them have ever known as home." (
Americasvoiceonline.org). Followed by discussion about local undocumented college students and Welcoming America/RI, the national grassroots collaborative promoting mutual respect and cooperation between Americans.

4:30 – 7:00 p.m. – Rhode Island College QuadThe Homecoming Festival is the go-to event for Homecoming 2012! Stop by the campus quad for tasty, traditional cookout fare and fabulous, fun activities! Join us as we unveil our new Rhode Island College affinity line with Alex and Ani and welcome guests to our artisan craft fair. Also, browse for homemade Rhode Island crafts made by our alumni and community. In addition to the cookout and artisan craft fair, there will be children's activities and a pie throwing contest! $5 per person. (Note to Students: Student price is $5 per person. If students have a meal card they will be charged $8 at the door. Please register online to secure the $5 price!)

5:30 p.m. – Rhode Island College CampusAfter you grab a bite to eat at the Homecoming Festival, head over to watch the students perform in the Homecoming Parade – in golf carts!
7:00 p.m. – Alger 110$10 per team of up to 7. Come back to campus, and take part in the RIC Trivia challenge! There will be trivia questions not only about RIC but also about Rhode Island and general pop culture.

Admission is $3.00RI College's 2012 Homecoming lineup includes mentalist Jim Karol performing his Psychic Madman Show, sponsored by Student Activities and the Student Union. Mentalist, comedian and memory extraordinaire, Jim has been seen by millions from his appearances on NBC's Phenomenon, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Ellen Degeneres Show, the Today Show, Howard Stern, Fox News, CNN and numerous other television and news programs. Hurry! Seating is limited! Tickets are available through online registration for Homecoming and will also be on sale Wednesday, September 12 through the Student Union Welcome and Information Center.

Saturday is filled with Alumni and Student Athletic events including a 5K Run and a Hall of Fame Dinner. Registration is encouraged for all events. Check out the events!
