3.5 Society

Academic Success

To help keep you on track, OASIS emails mid-year grades to all freshmen (another importatnt reason to check your RIC email account on a regular basis!). They will congratulate those students off to a very strong start and will also offer encouragement and advice to freshmen who may need some assistance.

A new honor society was created last year specifically for full-time freshmen who achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 in their first semester. These freshmen (and their parents) will be invited to be inducted into The 3.50 Society and will be recognized at a special ceremony on “3/5” at “3:50”p.m. For the class of 2017, that event will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. The Director of the College Honors Program serves as the advisor to this honor society.

This fall we also expect The 3.50 Society to become the local chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), a national honor society for freshmen achieving a 3.50 after their first semester or by the end of their first year.

Students are also recognized for academic excellence through the Dean’s List. Full-time students who achieve a minimum GPA of 3.25 in any semester will have their names placed on the Dean’s List in recognition of their academic achievement.
