First-Year Convocation

First-Year Convocation – Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Freshman check-in at 12 noon on the Quad at the Murray Center
Convocation is from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (free period)
(rain location: inside the Murray Center)

All freshmen are expected to attend First-Year Convocation. Sponsored by Academic & Student Affairs, the program is designed to welcome you to RIC’s academic community and give you an opportunity to connect with faculty in your field of interest – all in an informal and entertaining setting.

We’ve had special RIC silicone wrist bands created for the convocation for first-year students and faculty to make it easy for you to identify and connect with one another. Pick yours up at the stations set up at the convocation site (Murray Center) between 12 noon and 12:30 p.m. on the 4th.

RIC’s official school colors are gold & white, with burgundy as an accent color. However, each School has its own designated field of study color used by colleges and universities across the country.

Faculty of Arts & Sciences (FAS)
Light blue:
Feinstein School of Education & Human Development (FSEHD)
School of Nursing (SON)
School of Management (SOM)
School of Social Work (SSW)
Undeclared majors

We’ll have volunteers on hand (and signs) to help you get the right wrist band (or bands if you’re a double major or undeclared but leaning towards one school!). If you’re not sure which School includes your major, here’s a link to a list of RIC’s five schools:

Following the first half of the program, we’ll move up to the central Quad for ice cream! Use your wrist band as your ticket to try Donovan’s new signature ice cream treat. Here’s where you’ll make some great faculty connections and take part in RIC’s academic good luck tradition.

See you there!
