Campus Weather Advisory Update

CLASSES CANCELLED: Due to adverse weather conditions, RIC has cancelled all classes and activities for Monday, Feb. 8.

CAMPUS PARKING BAN: A parking ban remains in effect on all college roads, including the paved areas across from the greenhouse and Alger Hall, until 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The following parking lots will remain closed through 6 a.m. on Tuesday: A, B, I, J South and Y. All RIC parking lots will close as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday with the exception of the lot directly south of the Recreation Center. The only other exceptions will be areas designated for resident student parking.

TICKETING AND TOWING: Vehicles parked in banned areas will be ticketed and towed at the owners' expense.

PARKING FOR RESIDENT STUDENTS: In order to facilitate snow removal, resident students are directed to move their vehicles to parking lots I and J South between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Monday. All resident students should move their vehicles back to lot L between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday evening.

CAMPUS POLICE: Campus police will be monitoring roads and walkways and providing assistance where necessary. If a student's vehicle cannot be moved due to a mechanical issue, the student should contact campus police immediately at 401-456-8201.

DINING SERVICES: Donovan Dining Center will remain in operation throughout the storm in order to service resident students.

LIBRARY: The Adams Library will be closed during the storm.

RECREATION CENTER: The Recreation Center will be open during regular hours for student use.

EMPLOYEES: Employees who by contract are expected to report to work should do so. If they are unable to report to work, they should make arrangements with their supervisors and discharge time appropriately. If the state enacts the adverse weather policy, we will inform employees via email, and employees may take action accordingly.

NOTIFICATIONS: During any significant weather event or emergency, the RIC community may access up-to-date information by calling the college information line at (401) 456-9500. Alerts, when necessary, will be posted to the website and sent by text message to all RICAlert subscribers. We urge all members of the campus community to register for the college's RICAlert text messaging system. This emergency notification system allows the college to send an emergency text message through any mobile device to members of the college community for whom it has a mobile phone number and will only be used in the event of an emergency, including the small chance that classes would need to be delayed or cancelled.
