Opening Reception: November 1, 2012, 5:00 pm

The exhibition focuses on four artists who have recently attended residency fellowship programs and presents work they produced while having time devoted solely to their art.

Sophia Ainslie, Linda Leslie Brown, and Jennifer Moses are members of the Kingston Gallery in Boston. Printmaker Yizhak Elyashiv is a faculty member at Rhode Island College, who recently taught and worked in County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland. Sophia Ainslie has also spent time at residencies in Ireland, developing her installation concepts.

Linda Leslie Brown has received residency fellowships at Hambidge Center for the Arts in Rabun Gap, Georgia, and at I-Park in East Haddam, Connecticut, to pursue her environmental installation and studio work. Painter Jennifer Moses recently attended a yearlong residency at Roswell, New Mexico, and was also a Yaddo resident this past summer.

The show is a collaboration between the Bannister Gallery, the Kingston Gallery in Boston, and the Alliance of Artist Communities, an international art residency organization based in Providence.

The exhibition will be augmented by a public forum that will also involve the participation of writers and poets (TBA).

Jennifer Moses, associate professor of art at the University of New Hampshire, is guest curator.

Gallery hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Exhibits and events are free and open to the public. Accessible to persons with disabilities. For information on event dates and exhibit opening receptions, check this website or call (401) 456-9765.

This activity is made possible in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
