Sam Ames

New Works

March 3 - 25

Sam Ames - Melon , 2004 - oil on canvas - 21x22in.
This long standing R I College faculty member has been significant in defining the 'core' values of the Drawing and Painting areas of the RIC Dept. of Art for the past 31 years. This exhibit will feature works created on a recent sabbatical leave.

Ames' artworks, firmly rooted in the tradition of utilizing these vehicles for an examination of the light and forms of the empirical world, are also often inflected with a wry humor alongside more arcane references to the historical issues of drawing and painting.

Opening - March 3 at 7 p.m.
