Easily transfer from the Community College of Rhode Island to RIC, working toward a bachelor's degree while completing your associate's.

What is the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA)?

CCRI logo, initials

The JAA is an agreement between Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) that allows CCRI students to easily transfer to RIC. Students can begin working toward one of 23 bachelor's degrees at RIC while earning their associates degree at CCRI. Although it's common for students to transfer from CCRI to RIC, the purpose of the JAA is to facilitate the transition from the associates degree at CCRI to the bachelor's degree at RIC.

Why Should I Participate?

If you enroll in the Joint Admissions Agreement between CCRI and RIC, and complete an associates degree from an approved CCRI program, you'll receive:

Community College of Rhode Island Knight Campus

Am I Eligible?

You are eligible to apply if you have earned fewer than 30 credits at CCRI and have never attended another college or university. In order to make the transition from CCRI to RIC you need to have:

  • completed your approved associates degree at CCRI with a cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher
  • submitted the intent to enroll form to RIC
  • met all academic and non academic requirements for enrollment at RIC

Our transfer admissions team will work directly with CCRI to request your official transcript. You do not need to request your own CCRI transcript.

"The JAA advisors were incredibly helpful and made me feel heard. They provided me with tools and resources to navigate the process and ease any of my doubts. Orientation day was very informative and welcoming, I felt at home immediately...RIC's culture inspired me to become more involved, and I quickly realized that there was so much to discover. Now, I am the President of the Accounting Association and a member of the Student Support System. I just Love RIC."

"I’ve been a part of the JAA program for over a decade and I’ve helped well over a thousand students transition to RIC. I have witnessed students combine majors and minors that fit their unique skills and interests, graduate with multiple undergraduate degrees, go on to graduate school, and, most of all, build a bond with the RIC community. The unique relationship with JAA advising has afforded these students confidence in their transition to a new institution as well as a connection that lasts past graduation."
