As a comprehensive institution with five schools, Rhode Island College serves the educational needs of the citizens of the state, the nation, and beyond. The College is the largest producer of teachers in the state, and it is a primary source of nurses, social workers, business people, artists, musicians, scientists, educators, and leaders in many different areas. It is a powerful force for the liberal arts in a broad spectrum of disciplines. It is an exciting and vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff.
The Academic Affairs Division includes all of the activities and people central to the teaching and scholarly mission of Rhode Island College. The full-time and part-time faculty and professional staff are organized among the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development, the School of Management, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work and the Enrollment Management Unit consisting of Admissions, Financial Aid, the Office of Academic Support & Information Services (OASIS), Records Office, and the Early Enrollment Program. These units are complemented by the outreach mission of the David E. Sweet Center for Public Policy and its affiliates, and the community-education mission of the Office of Professional Studies and Continuing Education. Each year, about 9,000 students are served in their pursuit of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as a large number of students who pursue certificates or who enrich their knowledge and skills through continuing education programs.
As the Academic Vice President, I am privileged to help lead the college and its constituents and to support our community of scholars. Please contact me or my office at any time for assistance or information.
Ronald E. Pitt
