2015 EARLY SPRING COURSES

2015 Early Spring Courses:

Featured Course

GEND 350-70: Sex, Sports and Society

(December 30 - January 17; Distance Learning)

The news is full of debates about gender equity and accepted gender roles. Mo ‘Ne Davis transfixed fans from the mound during the 2014 Little League World Series, and yet did not rise to a professional baseball career. Partially this is because the mass media provides viewers with gendered images and cultural symbols that shape our notions of sport. Students draw on gender dynamics, alongside other frames of analysis such as economic, race-ethnicity, and sexuality, to examine sports.
