The RIC Annual Fund
History
Mary Davey '41, who began as director of public relations and alumni at the College in 1954 remembers that the annual giving program originated when Edward Travers '51, president of the Alumni Association from 1956-58, felt that there should be a formal year-to-year annual fund established and he began to organize it. Along with Travers, Donald Driscoll '54 and Albert Mink '54, were instrumental in organizing the methodology for one of the first annual fund drives which raised $3,856 in 1961. It was co-chaired by Driscoll and Margaret Bresnahan '45, president. Today, contributions to the Alumni Association's Annual Fund top $250,000.
The Rhode Island College Alumni Association is the method which alumni and friends provide unrestricted support to the College. The Annual Fund is managed by the Alumni Association. This fund continues to thrive each year thanks to the generous support of alumni and friends.
Why choose to support the RIC Annual Fund?
The RIC Alumni Association Annual Fund plays an important role in the day-to-day life of Rhode Island College.
Students- The Alumni Association awards over $100,000 in scholarship aid to qualified students.
Faculty - $12,500 from funds raised through Annual Fund is provided for faculty research, helping faculty gain additional expertise through scientific investigation and the publication of scholarly articles.
Alumni - The Alumni Association supports Alumni-related programs.

How is money raised for Annual Fund?
Phonathons – Conducted every fall and spring. The phonathons are staffed by Rhode Island College students, many of whom directly benefit from Alumni Scholarship awards. They work hard to help us reach our fundraising goals. We hope you enjoy talking with them and invite your comments at annualfund@ric.edu
Annual Fund Mailings – Usually four times per year. Contact our office at annualfund@ric.edu if you want to receive just one mailing a year.
Matching Gifts – Your employer may double your gift if you work for a matching gift company.
The Legacy Walk – Hundreds of people have been touched by seeing their name on a brick in our Legacy Walk purchased just for them by a friend, a family member, or a special acquaintance. You too can pay tribute to someone or even buy one for yourself.
